“Warm Front” suggests a junction between massive currents. Created from an unlikely pairing of colours Warm Front expresses stately movement and heavy momentum.

“Warm Front” is where Moss Green meets Deep Burgandy in a controlled flurry of pale froth. New potentials driven by verdant life comes head to head with rich fermented solidity.

Warm Front was an very messy experiment with left over paint. First by placing the pristine bare white canvas face down onto the table at the end of a long afternoon or other pour painted experiments. Spilt paint from other pieces, which included some very dark paints and a bit of black, resulted in a pinky grey mess on the canvas. Yes, I could just have been creating a disaster.

Then I very boldly upturned dirty cups made up from blue, green, pink and yellow.

Still sounding like a disaster.

Stretching out the paint something lovely happened. Not only did some excellent cells develop, but the paints slid over one another and revealed some beautiful patterning and depth.

To enhance the developing composition I added a very risky dirty cup with lime green mixed in. One stretching this out I now had a sublime counterpoint to the pale blues and pinks that dominated. The blowtorch brought more cells to life and voila – not a disaster!
